WEST zone concessionaire Maynilad Water Services Inc. will give customers hit by floods brought by Severe Tropical Storm Paeng a rebate of around P50 in their December bill.
Some 35,000 customers will benefit from the bill rebate assistance program, Maynilad said in a statement.
The water distributor said it allocated P1.7 million for the bill rebate assistance program, which will cover the average cost of the two-cubic meter consumption of Paeng-affected customers in portions of Muntinlupa and Pasay in Metro Manila; and Bacoor, Imus, Kawit, and Noveleta in Cavite province.
Maynilad said the rebate will offset the cost of the water that these customers consumed for their clean-up activities after their homes were inundated by floods.
“We hope that this assistance, however small, will be of some help to our customers as they recover and rebuild their homes that were affected by floods at the height of [Severe Tropical Storm] Paeng,” said Maynilad president and CEO Ramoncito Fernandez.
The Metropolitan Waterworks and Sewerage System-Regulatory Office (MWSS-RO) commended Maynilad’s initiative.
“We welcome the initiative of Maynilad to assist typhoon-stricken families in their time of need,” said MWSS-RO chief regulator Patrick Ty.
Maynilad provides water and wastewater services to residents in most parts of the City of Manila; northern and western parts of Quezon City; western parts of Makati City; and the Cities of Caloocan, Pasay, Parañaque, Las Piñas, Valenzuela, Muntinlupa, Navotas, and Malabon in Metro Manila.
It also serves the municipalities of Kawit, Noveleta, and Rosario, as well as the Cities of Bacoor, Cavite, and Imus in the province of Cavite.
