ECOP tinuligsa sa ‘di pagbabayad ng higit P8M renta

TINULIGSA ng Kamara ang kawalang kusa ng Employers Confederation of the Philippines (ECOP) sa tanggapang inookupa sa Makati City.

“Freeloading na sa pawis at dugo ng manggagawa, freeloading pa sa upa sa opisina ng gobyerno,” ani Rep. Ferdinand Gaite kaugnay pagtatalang inilabas ng Commission on Audit (COA). Ayon sa COA report, hindi nagbabayad ng upa ang ECOP sa inookupahang opisina sa Office of the Employeess Compensation Commission (ECC) sa Makati City.

Sa datos ng COA, lumalabas na nawalan umano ng P8.163 milyon ang gobyerno mula 2019 hanggang 2021 pa lamang sa renta sa tanggapan ng ECOP sa tanggapan ng ECC.

Ani Gaite, hindi angkop na palampasin ang ECOP sa hindi pagbabayad ng renta lalo pa’t ang Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) ay nagbabayad ng renta sa espasyong okupado ng nasabing kagawan sa gusaling pag-aari ng ECC.

“The unpaid rent by the ECOP could have translated to additional assistance to workers provided by the ECC such as work-related benefits due to illness, injury and even death, which is very essential especially in this time of the pandemic,” ayon sa mambabatas.

Duda ng kongresista, may ikinukubling lihim sa likod ng di makolektang singilin ng gobyerno.

Hindi rin aniya makatarungang ilibre ang upa ng ECOP dahil di naman libre ang renta ng mga empleyadong nangungupahan lang noong panahon ng pandemya.

“Kapag mahirap at walang pambayad ng upa, napakadaling palayasin at ginagamitan pa ng pulis para idemolish ang mga tahanan. Pero baliktad pag mayayaman. Sa ganitong sitwasyon, dapat lang talagang palayasin o magbayad ang ECOP,“ dagdag pa ng solon.
