DOF implements flexible work arrangements, work-from-home setups

admin May 9, 2024

IN efforts to alleviate traffic congestion and reduce electricity and fuel consumption, the Department of Finance (DOF) is now implementing flexible work arrangements under Department Order 044.2024 which took effect immediately.

The DOF allowed a combination of flexitime, skeleton workforce, and work-from-home setups to ensure continuous public service.

Through the flexitime setup, employees are given the option to come in from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. and may end work any time from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. after completing eight hours of work exclusive of an hour for lunch break from Monday to Friday.

It noted, however, that employees coming in to work past 9 a.m. will then be considered tardy, and those ending their shift before the completion of eight hours will be considered undertime.

DOF services, offices, divisions, and unit heads will determine the employees who will be working under the work from home setup on a given workday, with up to two consecutive days, provided that those availing of the setup do not exceed 50% of the personnel headcount, and it is approved by the undersecretary or the group head.

The work from home option is available for four days per month or once a week, except for Tuesday for all officials and employees and on Thursdays for all officials only.

“All DOF officials and employees shall make themselves reachable/accessible via mobile phone, email, and other ICT channels within working hours. The immediate supervisor may recommend the marking of ‘absent’ if the concerned employee is inaccessible or unresponsive,” the Department Order read
