TRANSPORTATION Secretary Jaime Bautista assured Filipinos that the Department of Transportation is committed to ensure the completion of the Metro Manila Subway Project.
This, as Secretary Bautista led the groundbreaking ceremony for the construction of the subway’s underground stations and tunnels in Quezon Avenue and East Avenue in Barangay Bagong Pag-asa, Quezon City.
Not only will Filipinos benefit from a comfortable, affordable, safe, sustainable and accessible railway system, but also with the generation of new jobs coming from the subway’s completion.
“We would like to reiterate our gratitude to the Government of Japan through the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) for the loan package that makes possible the very first subway train system of the Philippines,” Secretary Bautista said.
Once completed, the country’s first subway system will reduce travel time between Valenzuela City to Pasay City from one hour and 38 minutes to 45 minutes while the estimated daily ridership is 519,000 passengers.
