A 40-year-old man, identified as alias “Harvey,” was arrested in Batangas City on Friday for allegedly sending bomb threats to the Philippine National Police (PNP) Anti-Cybercrime Group (ACG).
The ACG reported that the suspect had been persistently sending threatening and harassing messages to the official Facebook page of the group and its subordinate units. The messages included explicit bomb threats, warning of potential explosions at their location.
The ACG stated that the suspect used multiple dummy accounts to send the threats.
Acting on a warrant issued by the Regional Trial Court of Batangas City, the ACG apprehended the suspect on September 10.
He is now facing three counts of grave threat under the Revised Penal Code, in relation to the Cybercrime Prevention Act of 2012.
Bail has been set at P36,000 for each count. ACG acting director Police Brigadier General Bernard Yang issued a stern warning to individuals exploiting cyberspace for criminal activities, assuring them that the ACG will pursue and prosecute them to the full extent of the law.
