
PATUNG-PATONG na kaso ang isinampa ng Bureau of Corrections kabilang ang plunder at malversation of public funds laban kay suspendidong BuCor chief Gerald Bantag.
Isinampa ni BuCor acting chief Gregorio Catapang ang mga kaso sa National Prosecution Service of the Department of Justice ngayong Lunes.
Bukod sa plunder at malversation of public funds through falsification of official documents, kinasuhan din si Bantag ng graft and corruption at paglabag sa Code of Conduct and Ethical Standards for Public Officials and Employees.
Sa anim-pahinang demanda, sinabi na habang director general si Bantag sa BuCor, ang P1 billion proyekto sa pagpapatayo ng tatlong prison facilities sa Davao Prison and Penal Farm (Lot 1), Iwahig Prison and Penal Farm sa Puerto Princesa, Palawan (Lot 2) at Leyte Regional Prison (Lot 3) na tinatayang P300 milyon ang halaga ay iniharap sa public bidding noong September 17, 2020.
“Respondent Bantag in conspiracy with, and with indispensable complicity of, the other herein respondents, has purposely and systematically orchestrated the diversion/misappropriation and/or consenting or permitting other persons, to take public funds, of the Bureau of Corrections,” ayon sa demanda.
Sinabi pa na ang plano ni Bantay na ilipat ang pondo ng bayan ay nagsimula nang itayo nito ang hiwalay na Bidding para sa tatlong proyekto.
Kabilang sa respondents sa complaint sina Correction Technical Superintendent Arnold Jacinto Guzman, Correction Inspector Ric Rocacurba, Correction Inspector Solomon Areniego, Correction Technical Officer 1 Jor-el De Jesus, Correction Technical Officer 2 Angelo Castillo, at Correction Technical Officer Alexis Catindig.
