KUSUG Tausug Representative Shernee Tan-Tambut denounced today Raissa Robles’ Twitter post, regarding Cebu Mayor Christina Garcia-Frasco’s plans as the next tourism secretary.
In an open letter on Facebook, Tan-Tambut expressed dismay following a quoted tweet of Robles in response to a Twitter post regarding Garcia-Frasco’s plans as the next tourism secretary, published on June 2.
Tan-Tambut said she is appalled over Robles’ “sarcastic” statement over Mindanao’s tourism state as “prospects of so many potential kidnap victims.”
“I am utterly dismayed that a journalist like you, with connections to international papers, would carelessly suggest in a public forum like Twitter that tourists in Mindanao will be sitting ducks for kidnappers and other criminals. That is totally untrue. Mindanao is peaceful and progressive and its Muslim provinces are doing their best to contribute to our nation’s growth,” Tan-Tambut wrote on Facebook.
Tan-Tambut pointed out that she does not hold it against Robles’ opposition to the incoming administration, but a responsible journalist like her should put fairness and facts before biases.
The Kusug Tausug Partylist Representative added that Robles should not give false assumptions that mock their efforts in maintaining peace and stability within their provinces. At the end of the open letter, Tan-Tambut offers to accompany Robles to see the peacefulness in some southern Mindanao provinces herself.
