THE prosecution has presented Sara Duterte’s Statements of Assets, Liabilities, and Net Worth (SALNs) covering 2007 through 2025, giving its next financial witnesses a set of declarations against which to compare bank, tax, and corporate records, House prosecutor Rep. Terry Ridon said Tuesday.
Ridon described the presentation as “pasok sa banga, shoot sa banga, three points” during the post-trial briefing following Ombudsman records official Atty. Karen Batu’s testimony.
The Bicol Saro Party-list representative said the latest addition was Duterte’s 2025 SALN, which had not been available during the earlier House proceedings.
“Yung 2025 ang pinakabago kasi wala ito sa House proceedings,” he said. “Yung pagpapasok ng lahat ng SALNs ay very important dahil dito ibabangga lahat ng iba pang ebidensya moving forward.”
Ridon identified corporate records, Bureau of Internal Revenue filings, Anti-Money Laundering Council records, and bank documents among the evidence the prosecution intends to compare with the declarations. He said particular attention would be paid to the annual filings for 2022–2025, covering Duterte’s vice presidency.
The prosecution’s presentation listed 16 annual SALN years: 2007–2012 and 2016–2025. The first and last declarations showed net worth of ₱7,250,497 and ₱98,656,131.20, respectively.
That is an increase of ₱91,405,634.20, or 1,260.68%, over the 18-year interval. The comparison extends to years before Duterte became Vice President.
Former Rep. Ace Barbers, a prosecution spokesperson and adviser, said the starting figures were needed to place the unexplained wealth allegation in context. He identified 2007 as the baseline, when Duterte entered office as Davao City vice mayor.
Private prosecutor Atty. Benjamin “Jay” Tolosa Jr. said prosecutors would compare the declared assets with reported income and examine whether there were other assets not reflected in the SALNs. Batu’s presentation supplied the declarations for those comparisons; additional financial evidence would follow.
Barbers said the baseline would also help the public follow the records as they are presented under Article II.
“Kaya very clear na ito ang baseline na dapat nating makita at para maintindihan ng ating mga kababayan,” Barbers stressed.
