DASMARINAS Mayor Jenny Barzaga has emerged victorious in the special election for Cavite’s 4th Congressional District, securing the seat previously held by her son, expelled former Representative Kiko Barzaga.
The Commission on Elections officially proclaimed Barzaga the winner at 3:21 a.m. on Sunday, August 30, marking a smooth transition of the family’s representation in the House of Representatives.
The special election was called to fill the vacancy left after Kiko Barzaga was expelled from Congress. By winning the contest, Mayor Barzaga assumes the post that her son vacated, effectively continuing the family’s leadership over the district. Her victory underscores the enduring political influence and name recognition the Barzaga family enjoys in Dasmariñas and across the 4th District.
Barzaga’s dual experience as a long-serving chief executive of Dasmariñas positions her to hit the ground running as the district’s new representative. Voters have entrusted her with advancing the legislative priorities and development initiatives that the family has championed for years, bridging the gap between local governance and congressional representation as she steps into her new role.
