Grade 6 pupil caught with unloaded .38 revolver in Biliran elementary school

A GRADE six student was found in possession of an unloaded .38‑caliber revolver at Pulang Bato Elementary School in Almeria, Biliran on Wednesday, prompting immediate response from police and social welfare authorities.

The discovery was made around 2:50 p.m. during a scheduled police school visitation, after school officials alerted the Almeria Municipal Police Station about the incident. The school principal formally turned over the firearm to responding officers following its recovery from the child.

Investigators confirmed that CCTV footage captured the pupil entering the school restroom, where he showed the gun to another minor. Initial inquiries revealed that the two children are close friends, though authorities have yet to determine how and why the student brought the weapon onto campus. The firearm was unloaded at the time it was confiscated, and no ammunition was recovered with it.

The incident has raised fresh concerns over minors’ access to weapons and safety in schools. Police and social welfare agencies are conducting further investigation to trace the origin of the revolver and assess the circumstances that led the child to bring it to school.
