A SPOKESPERSON for the House prosecution panel on Thursday urged Vice President Sara Z. Duterte to share with law enforcement authorities any information she may have about contract killings after saying a hitman could allegedly be hired for P5,000.
House trial spokesperson Zia Alonto Adiong of Lanao del Sur said such information should be turned over to investigators rather than aired publicly.
“If she’s really that confident about the information that she has na P5,000 ‘yung ibinibigay doon sa mga hitman, at the very least the people expect her to share this information to our local investigative agencies or the police,” Alonto Adiong said in a press conference.
He was referring to Duterte’s remarks to reporters outside the ICC in The Hague, where she cited the alleged cost of hiring a gunman while discussing killings in the Philippines.
Alonto Adiong said the public would expect the Vice President to help authorities prevent violence if she possessed credible information about contract killings.
He also said that reporting such information is part of the Vice President’s duty as a public official.
“Kung meron po siyang ganitong mga impormasyon para po kung ’yun naman po ‘yung intention niya talaga para masolba itong mga ganitong klaseng pangyayari sa kalsada, eh bilang Vice President, she does not really need to be an ally of any administration for that matter,” he said.
“Her public office being a public office demands that she at least shares this information if that is what she intends to prove na para mawala itong ganitong klaseng karahasan na nangyayari.”
