LEYTE Representative Ferdinand Martin G. Romualdez issued a statement saying that while the President’s pronouncement is painful to his family, he fully respects the position taken by the Chief Executive.
“I have never asked for any favor or special treatment,” Romualdez emphasized, making clear that he has always sought to be treated like any other public official under the law.
He expressed agreement that the right course of action is to follow due process and allow the evidence to speak for itself.
“I stand firm that I have not committed any violation of the law,” the lawmaker declared, rejecting any wrongdoing on his part and maintaining that his actions have always been consistent with legal and ethical standards expected of a public servant.
Romualdez added that he is fully prepared to prove his innocence and defend his integrity through proper legal and investigative procedures. The statement underscores his commitment to accountability, transparency, and respect for institutions, as he faces the issues raised against him with readiness to face the process head‑on.
