TUGUEGARAO CITY — President Ferdinand Marcos Jr., joined by House Speaker Faustino “Bojie” Dy, led the formal inauguration of the new Brain and Spine Center and the groundbreaking ceremony for the upcoming Heart, Lung, Renal Care, and Kidney Transplant Center at the Cagayan Valley Medical Center here on Friday, May 15.
The event marks a major milestone in the expansion of specialized healthcare services in the region, aimed at upgrading public medical facilities to meet international standards and cater to the growing health needs of residents across Cagayan Valley.
These new facilities form part of the government’s broader initiative to decentralize healthcare delivery and ensure that state‑of‑the‑art treatment is accessible outside Metro Manila.
Once fully operational, the centers will provide advanced medical procedures, comprehensive care, and specialized interventions that previously required patients from the region to travel long distances to the capital or other major cities. By bringing these services closer to home, the project seeks to reduce financial and logistical burdens on families while ensuring timely medical attention for critical conditions.
The Heart, Lung, Renal Care, and Kidney Transplant Center — now in its construction phase — will further strengthen the hospital’s capacity to handle complex cases involving vital organs, complementing the newly opened Brain and Spine Center.
Both projects align with the administration’s commitment to improve the quality and reach of public health services, ensuring that more Filipinos have equal access to quality medical care regardless of where they live. Local officials and residents expressed optimism that these developments will transform the Cagayan Valley Medical Center into a leading hub for specialized healthcare in Northern Luzon.
