Cash remittances reach $2.8B in February 2026, showing steady growth

admin April 15, 2026

OVERSEAS Filipino (OF) cash remittances experienced a notable increase, reaching US$2.79 billion in February 2026. This surge contributed to a cumulative expansion of 3.1 percent in cash remittances for the first two months of the year, rising from US$5.63 billion in January-February 2025 to US$5.81 billion in the same period in 2026.

This sustained growth indicates the continued economic significance of OF remittances to the Philippines.

The United States continues to be the primary source of these crucial financial inflows, followed by Singapore and Saudi Arabia as the next major contributors in January-February 2026. These top remittance-sending countries highlight the global reach of the Filipino diaspora and their consistent support for their families back home. The consistent flow of funds from these key locations underscores the vital role of OF workers in the Philippine economy.

In addition to cash remittances sent through formal banking channels, personal remittances—which encompass both cash transfers via informal channels and remittances in kind—also saw a significant rise. In February 2026, personal remittances amounted to US$3.10 billion. On a year-to-date basis, personal remittances demonstrated a 3.1 percent increase, growing from US$6.27 billion in January-February 2025 to US$6.46 billion in the corresponding period of 2026. This broader measure of financial support further emphasizes the substantial economic contribution of Filipinos working abroad.
