AUTHORITIES have recovered the bodies of pilot Jose Ortoll and his spouse two days after their Cessna 172 aircraft crashed in the Dinagat Islands.
The private plane, registered as RPC2444, had reportedly departed from Subic with Siargao Island as its destination before going missing on Wednesday. The recovery of the cadavers brings a somber conclusion to the search for the couple, who were reportedly traveling to visit their private resort in Siargao.
The aircraft plunged into a mountain in the Dinagat Islands, and initial reports indicate that no distress call was made in the 15 minutes leading up to its anticipated 1 p.m. The aircraft was expected to arrive at Siargao Airport at 1 p.m. Authorities noted that the weather conditions in the area were favorable for commercial flights at the time of the incident, adding to the mystery surrounding the cause of the crash. The Cessna 172, owned by Ortoll’s wife, was on a personal trip when the accident occurred.
