SENATOR Ronald “Bato” dela Rosa’s salary may be suspended due to his prolonged absence from Senate sessions, according to Senate President Pro Tempore Panfilo Lacson this Tuesday.
Lacson said that the Senate leadership is studying amending the Senate Rules to allow the withholding of the salary of a senator who has been absent for a long time.
Dela Rosa has not attended plenary sessions since November 11, 2025, following the Ombudsman’s statement that the International Criminal Court (ICC) allegedly has an arrest warrant against him—although there is no official confirmation of this yet.
Lacson revealed that former Sen. Antonio Trillanes IV plans to file an ethics complaint against dela Rosa in March, which could serve as a way for the ethics committee to take action.
