Representative Elizaldy Co of Ako Bicol Party List.
PRESIDENT Ferdinand Marcos Jr. announced on Friday that arrest warrants have been issued against former Ako Bicol Rep. Zaldy Co and 17 others in connection with their cases involving anomalous flood control projects.
In a video announcement, Marcos stated, “There is already a warrant of arrest against Zaldy Co and 17 others from the DPWH (Department of Public Works and Highways) and Sunwest Corporation.” He urged law enforcement agencies to execute the warrants quickly and correctly, emphasizing that “the wheels of justice are now in motion.”
Marcos showed a list of individuals with arrest warrants, but the names were not clearly visible. The arrest warrants, issued by the Sandiganbayan, were based on evidence gathered by the Independent Commission for Infrastructure and the DPWH. Marcos emphasized that no special treatment will be given and that the investigation will continue until all those responsible are held liable.
This announcement comes after the first set of charges against Co and 17 others over the alleged anomalous P289.5-million road dike project in Oriental Mindoro was raffled off by the anti-graft court last Tuesday. The cases stem from the construction of a road dike along the Mag-Asawang Tubig River in Naujan, Oriental Mindoro, where officials observed that the steel sheet piles used for the dike were “grossly below the required standards.”
