SPEAKER Faustino “Bojie” Dy III has issued a statement addressing the videos released by former Ako Bicol Rep. Zaldy Co, urging him to return to the Philippines and face the allegations against him in person.
Dy reiterated his commitment to President Marcos’ goal of cleaning up the government, stating that public trust cannot be built without genuine accountability. He highlighted his actions as Speaker, including canceling Co’s travel authority and coordinating with the DOJ to expedite the DFA’s cancellation of his passport, in an effort to compel Co’s return.
Dy contrasted Co’s actions with those of other congressmen who have voluntarily cooperated with the Investigating Committee (ICI) to explain their side. He argued that while others are providing clarification in person, Co is avoiding accountability and adding to public confusion by releasing videos from abroad.
The Speaker emphasized that videos from overseas are not sufficient and that serious allegations require a serious commitment to accountability. He called on Co to appear before authorities like the ICI, swear under oath, and present evidence. Dy also pledged to coordinate with relevant agencies to ensure Co’s safety while testifying, should protection be necessary.
In closing, Dy acknowledged the public’s concern and fatigue caused by the confusing information and appealed to Co to return and face the Filipino people.
