THE Creamline Cool Smashers, after a surprising first-set stumble, roared back to life, dismantling the Nxled Chameleons in four sets (20-25, 25-13, 25-16, 25-18) at the FilOil EcoOil Centre, solidifying their quarterfinal bid in the PVL Reinforced Conference.
Creamline’s championship pedigree shone through after the initial shock, as they tightened their defense, sharpened their serves, and unleashed a relentless offensive attack that Nxled simply couldn’t match.
“We were able to adjust quickly,” said Michele Gumabao, who earned Best Player of the Game with 13 points. “The composure was there, the instructions from our coaches were clear, and we executed well.”
The victory puts Creamline at 4-2, firmly in fourth place. However, Gumabao emphasized the team isn’t complacent, with tough matches against Choco Mucho and Cignal looming. Nxled, despite Paola Martinez’s 18 points, fell to their sixth straight loss and were eliminated from playoff contention. Creamline dominated in blocks (10-6) and aces (10-5), capitalizing on Nxled’s 27 errors.
Creamline faces Choco Mucho on Nov. 13 and Cignal on Nov. 18 in crucial matches that will determine their playoff seeding.
