A FEMALE civil engineer and contractor was ambushed and shot near her home in Sitio Nagmarcaan, Brgy. San Marcelino, Dingras, Ilocos Norte, at approximately 8 p.m. on Friday, September 26.
The victim was discovered inside her white Mitsubishi L300, which had veered into a canal along the barangay road. She sustained gunshot wounds and was found in a bloodied state.
She was immediately transported to a district hospital and subsequently transferred to another medical facility for further treatment. Police investigators recovered five empty caliber .45 cartridges at the scene of the crime.
The assailants remain unidentified, and the motive for the attack is currently unknown. The incident was reported to the Dingras Municipal Police Station (MPS) at 8:19 p.m. and to the Ilocos Norte Provincial Police Office (PPO) at 9:31 p.m. An investigation into the ambush is currently underway.
