JUST watch.
This was the response of Presidential Communications Office Undersecretary and Palace Press Officer Claire Castro during a press briefing in Malacañang when asked for comment on Davao City Mayor Sebastian “Baste” Duterte’s remarks made during an interview in The Hague, Netherlands.
Instead of Baste Duterte saying that the investigation into the allegedly anomalous flood-control projects is a “PR (public relations) stunt,” Castro said it would be better if he “just watch.” Baste Duterte stated that the ongoing investigation into flood-mitigation projects is merely political theatrics, adding that President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. should be held accountable as the highest-ranking official of the country.
“Because he [Marcos] is turning that into a press release now, it’s his PR stunt now,” Baste Duterte said in an interview with former presidential spokesperson Harry Roque. “If there is someone to blame, that would be him,” he added. Baste Duterte said that if President Marcos is serious about the issue, he should file a case. “If he’s really serious… then why not file a case? If you really want to show the people, okay, you want to redeem yourself, then go to jail.”
Meanwhile, Castro emphasized that President Marcos will hold accountable all officials and politicians proven to be involved in the anomalous flood-prevention projects, which left some parts of the country submerged in floodwaters during the rainy season.
