THE Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) is warning the public about a fraudulent social media post. The post falsely claims that residents can receive ₱5,000 to ₱8,000 in assistance. This requires filling out a barangay form and contacting unverified mobile numbers.
The DILG states that this information is completely false and misleading. No such directive has been issued. The mobile numbers in the post are not official and are not connected to any legitimate government program.
The Social Amelioration Program (SAP) is handled solely by the DSWD through official channels. The DILG only assists with local monitoring, and no such program is currently active.
The public is urged to be vigilant and avoid sharing personal information or signing documents based on unverified social media posts. The DILG will pursue legal action against those spreading misinformation or misusing the DILG’s name for fraudulent purposes. For legitimate concerns, contact the DILG Public Assistance Center at (02) 8876-3454 local 6700.
