THE four police officers involved in the robbery-slay case of the Barangui-an couple in San Fernando town, Cebu are now relieved from the post, the Police Regional Office Central Visayas confirms.
They are also placed under RDEU7 custodial facility while they are facing charges of Robbery with Double Homicide before the Prosecutor’s Office.
Meanwhile, administrative complaints will also be endorsed to the Regional Internal Affairs Service (RIAS) to determine their culpabilities as police officers.
On February 13, victims Ma. Louela Barangui-an, a village councilor, and her husband Pedro were discovered lifeless inside their house.
The barangay official was a candidate for town councilor in the May 2022 elections.
“These are actions being undertaken to make sure that the wheels of justice are moving. They are relieved from their posts to avoid any undue influence while there is an ongoing probe,” PNP Chief General Dionardo Carlos said.
Out of the five suspects, four of them surrendered to various police units in Cebu.
They are identified as Staff Sergeants Rene Catamora, Junrey Ypil, Junrey Batobalonos and Master Sgt. Alvin Enad, former Staff Sgt. Esmeraldo Quillosa.
