THREE men were killed and two others wounded in a brazen ambush along the national road in Barangay Naddungan, Gattaran, Cagayan on Wednesday morning, police reported Thursday.
One of the fatalities has been identified as Kit Diaz of La Purisima, Aliaga, Nueva Ecija. His brother and another unidentified man also perished in the attack, which occurred around 10 a.m. The two injured victims were transported to a nearby hospital for treatment.
The victims were traveling in a Chevrolet SUV (plate number TLW-188) when they were ambushed by three gunmen in a blue Hyundai Reina SUV. After firing numerous shots into the victims’ vehicle, the assailants reportedly dragged the bodies from the SUV and left them by the roadside.
They then escaped, using the victims’ vehicle as one of their getaway cars, fleeing north towards Cagayan’s interior areas. Police are actively investigating the incident and pursuing leads, including the possible involvement of a former police officer from Buguey town. The motive for the attack remains under investigation.
