STARTING July 18, over 1.2 million minimum wage earners in Metro Manila will receive a significant boost to their income, with a ₱50 daily increase in the minimum wage.
This substantial increase brings the new minimum daily wage to ₱695, marking the highest ever approved by the National Capital Region (NCR) Regional Tripartite Wages and Productivity Board.
The increase is expected to provide much-needed relief to low-wage workers in the region, helping them cope with the rising cost of living and inflation. The move is a positive step towards improving the economic well-being of a large segment of the Metro Manila workforce.
The ₱50 daily increase represents a substantial improvement in the minimum wage, reflecting the board’s recognition of the economic challenges faced by minimum wage earners.
The decision highlights the government’s commitment to ensuring a fair and livable wage for workers. The significant increase is expected to have a positive ripple effect on the local economy, boosting consumer spending and potentially stimulating economic growth.
The higher minimum wage will likely benefit not only the workers themselves but also their families and communities. The implementation of this increase is a significant step toward improving the quality of life for a large portion of the population in Metro Manila.
