AUTHORITIES at Ninoy Aquino International Airport Terminal 3 intercepted a Filipina passenger on Saturday attempting to leave the country with P1.2 million in undeclared cash.
The 61-year-old woman, bound for Hong Kong, was unable to present the necessary authorization or permit from the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) when questioned by customs officials.
Under Philippine law, individuals carrying more than P50,000 in cash out of the country are required to obtain prior authorization from the central bank. The incident highlights the ongoing efforts to prevent money laundering and ensure compliance with financial regulations.
