THE Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) warned of scattered rains and thunderstorms across much of the country due to the combined effects of the Southwest Monsoon (Habagat) and the trough of Tropical Storm Bising (international name: Danas).
In a weather advisory issued Saturday, Pagasa forecast scattered rains and thunderstorms over Babuyan and the Babuyan Islands for the next 24 hours, primarily attributed to Bising’s trough.
Similar weather conditions are expected in Metro Manila, the Ilocos Region, Cordillera Administrative Region, Central Luzon, CALABARZON, MIMAROPA, and the rest of Cagayan Valley due to the influence of the Southwest Monsoon. Pagasa advised the public and disaster risk reduction and management offices to closely monitor weather updates.
As of 10 a.m. Saturday, Tropical Storm Danas was located approximately 460 kilometers west of Basco, Batanes, moving east-northeastward at a slow pace.
The storm’s maximum sustained winds were recorded at 75 kilometers per hour near the center, with gusts reaching up to 90 kilometers per hour. Its central pressure was measured at 994 hPa, and strong winds extend outward up to 330 kilometers from the center. Pagasa emphasized the need for continued monitoring of weather updates related to the tropical cyclone.
