TWO construction workers were killed and five others injured when the second floor of a warehouse under construction collapsed in Bulacan province on Friday afternoon, July 4.
Police reports indicate the incident occurred around 3:45 p.m. at a warehouse located between Barangays Buisan, Bustos, and Bagbaguin, Pandi.
According to initial reports, workers noticed the second-floor slab beginning to sag as cement was being poured.
An attempt to reinforce the steel structure with welding proved unsuccessful, causing the supporting scaffolding to collapse and the second floor to give way.
Responding emergency teams from Bustos-Pandi Rescue, the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) Bustos and Pandi, and the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office recovered the body of one worker, identified only as “Norman,” 23, from Taytay, Rizal. Another male victim remains buried under the rubble.
Five injured workers were transported to a nearby hospital for treatment. Authorities are continuing their investigation to identify all victims and determine the cause of the collapse.
