THE Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) has commenced the rehabilitation of the Delpan Bridge in Manila, advising motorists to seek alternative routes during the construction period.
The rehabilitation is deemed necessary following an assessment by the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), which determined that the bridge requires retrofitting to enhance its resilience against potential earthquakes.
The project follows the recent rehabilitation of the EDSA-Kamuning and Quezon Avenue flyovers, highlighting the government’s focus on strengthening infrastructure to withstand seismic activity.
Motorists affected by the Delpan Bridge rehabilitation are urged to utilize the service roads or travel underneath the bridge while the retrofitting work is underway.
The DPWH is expected to provide regular updates on the project’s progress and any potential traffic disruptions.
The rehabilitation of the Delpan Bridge is a significant undertaking aimed at ensuring the safety and structural integrity of a vital transportation artery in Manila, enhancing its ability to withstand future earthquakes and ensuring the continued smooth flow of traffic in the area once the project is completed.
