PRESIDENT Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. has issued a directive to the Department of Energy (DOE) to closely monitor the escalating tensions in the Middle East, recognizing the potential for significant impacts on fuel prices in the country.
Palace Press Officer Undersecretary Atty. Claire Castro confirmed the President’s instruction, emphasizing the need for proactive monitoring to allow for swift responses and potential aid measures should oil prices experience substantial increases.
This directive underscores the administration’s commitment to mitigating the effects of global instability on the Filipino people, particularly concerning essential commodities like fuel.
The DOE, under officer-in-charge Sharon Garin, has already initiated monitoring efforts, highlighting the agency’s preparedness to address potential price surges.
