VETERAN journalist Jay Ruiz has been reappointed as acting secretary of the Presidential Communications Office (PCO), a move confirmed by Executive Secretary Lucas Bersamin on Tuesday.
The reappointment, effective June 16th, follows the Commission on Appointments’ previous deferral of deliberation on Ruiz’s permanent appointment.
This decision underscores President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr.’s continued confidence in Ruiz’s leadership of the PCO, a crucial role in disseminating information and shaping public discourse within the administration.
The reappointment comes at a time when effective communication is paramount for the success of the administration’s programs, highlighting the importance of a strong and experienced communications team.
In a statement expressing gratitude for the renewed trust, Ruiz emphasized his commitment to serving with increased dedication.
He cited President Marcos Jr.’s tireless efforts to improve the lives of Filipinos as a source of inspiration, mirroring the President’s dedication to public service with his own commitment to lead the PCO with professionalism and integrity.
This renewed commitment is particularly significant given the challenges of combating misinformation and ensuring transparent communication in today’s media landscape.
Ruiz’s acknowledgment of the support received from his colleagues in the media profession further underscores the collaborative nature of his approach to public communication.
