FORMER Bamban, Tarlac Mayor Alice Guo personally appeared before the Pasig Regional Trial Court on Tuesday, as her legal team presented evidence to counter charges of qualified human trafficking.
While Atty. Nicole Jamilla, Guo’s legal counsel, declined to name potential witnesses or detail the evidence submitted, she expressed confidence that it would effectively refute the allegations.
Jamilla explained Guo’s personal court appearance was necessary due to the submission of evidence. “Basically, she needed to appear personally,” Jamilla stated.
The specific nature of the evidence remains undisclosed, adding to the intrigue surrounding the case. The court proceedings mark a significant development in the ongoing legal battle against the former mayor.
Beyond the human trafficking charges, Guo also faces a separate money laundering case.
The outcome of this court appearance will be crucial in determining the direction of both cases. The court will now review the evidence presented by Guo’s defense team before deciding on the next steps in the legal process.
The former mayor’s personal appearance underscores the seriousness with which she and her legal team are addressing these accusations.
