A NATIONWIDE manhunt is underway for former presidential spokesperson Harry Roque and Cassandra Ong, following the issuance of arrest warrants by the Angeles City Regional Trial Court Branch 118.
The warrants, issued for violations of Republic Act 9208 (Anti-Trafficking in Persons Act of 2003), also target 49 other individuals implicated in an investigation into illegal offshore gaming operations.
The Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) confirmed on Friday that tracker teams have been deployed across the country to apprehend the 51 suspects.
“As of early morning today, the tracker teams are tracking and pursuing the 51 accused-subjects of the arrest warrant across the country,” the CIDG stated in a press release. This was corroborated by PNP Public Information Office (PIO) chief Col. Randulf Tuaño during a Friday press briefing at Camp Crame.
The arrests stem from an ongoing investigation into alleged human trafficking linked to illegal offshore gaming activities.
The details of the charges against Roque and Ong, and the other individuals named in the warrants, remain under investigation.
