BUREAU of Customs (BOC) Port of Clark personnel seized over P5.5 million worth of shabu hidden in toy shipments from the United States.
According to the BOC, the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) received information about an illegal shipment arriving from Los Angeles, California. Authorities immediately inspected the shipment, which included 10 pieces of toys, a surprise egg toy, and nine kinetic sand toys.
During the inspection, authorities discovered vacuum-sealed pouches containing a white crystalline substance suspected to be illegal narcotics. The 816 grams of white crystalline substance were turned over to the PDEA for chemical analysis, which confirmed it to be Methamphetamine Hydrochloride, classified as a dangerous drug under R.A. No. 9165.
A Warrant of Seizure and Detention was issued for the shipment due to violation of Section 118(g), Section 119(d), and Section 1113 paragraphs (f), (i), and (l) of R.A. No. 10863, also known as the Customs Modernization and Tariff Act (CMTA), in relation to R.A. No. 9165.
