SIX senior high school students suffered injuries in a fire sparked by a chemical explosion at Globetek Science Foundation Inc. in Barangay San Antonio, Makati City on Wednesday afternoon.
The Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) reported the incident Thursday, noting that the explosion, involving ethanol in a school laboratory, occurred around 5:20 p.m., though the BFP wasn’t notified until 6:12 p.m.
Three students were transported to a hospital for treatment, while the other three were released to their families. Two fire trucks and an ambulance responded to the scene.
Emergency responders completed their work and declared the area safe by 6:46 p.m. The fire, which affected approximately 20 square meters of the building, caused an estimated ₱5,000 in damages.
