THE Bureau of Immigration (BI) has swiftly deported three Chinese nationals, marking record-fast deportation process just weeks after their arrest.
This accelerated action, according to BI Commissioner Joel Viado, directly responds to President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.’s ban on Philippine Offshore Gaming Operator (POGO) operations.
The three individuals—Lyu Xun (23), Kong Xiangrui (26), and Wang Shangle (25)—were among 450 illegal POGO workers apprehended on January 8 and deported on January 25 via Air Asia to Xiamen, China.
Commissioner Viado emphasized this is just the first group, and the BI is committed to expediting the removal of all illegal POGO workers. He issued a warning to those remaining, urging voluntary surrender to avoid arrest and deportation.
The BI plans to significantly increase deportation efforts in the coming weeks.
