FIVE people, including four minors, perished in a fire that broke out in a residential area in Barangay San Roque, Navotas City on Saturday morning, December 14.
According to Fire Senior Superintendent Rodrigo Reyes, assistant regional director for operations of the Bureau of Fire Protection National Capital Region (BFP-NCR), the victims were a 41-year-old woman and children aged 12, 15, and 17.
The victims were rushed to Navotas Hospital but were declared dead on arrival due to asphyxia or suffocation.
Initial investigation revealed that the fire started in a three-story house on Governor Pascual Street around 7:02 am.
The fire reached the first alarm and was put out by 7:53 am.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
