THE Philippine National Police (PNP) revealed that the Chinese suspect in the fatal shooting of a fellow countryman at a Makati City hotpot restaurant is an undesirable alien with a history of criminal activity.
PNP spokesperson Police Brigadier General Jean Fajardo stated, “It appears the suspect is an undesirable alien. In fact, the suspect’s passport has already been canceled.”
Fajardo added that the suspect was involved in a carnapping case in 2022 and has a record of other offenses in China. “This suspect was previously involved in carnapping sometime in 2022. A case was filed but the suspect was released on bail. It appears based on the operational research that the suspect already has a record in China of being involved in other cases,” she said.
Authorities are currently searching for the suspect.
CCTV footage shows the 29-year-old victim, who was dining with a group in a private room at the restaurant on October 17, being shot four times at close range by the suspect, who suddenly stood up and brandished a pistol. The victim was hit in the hand, arm, and chest.
Despite being rushed to a hospital, the victim was declared dead on arrival. The suspect and several others fled the scene in a vehicle.
Fajardo explained that the two Chinese men were business partners who had a heated argument that escalated into the fatal shooting.
