A CORRECTIONS officer, along with two other persons, has been arrested for illegal drugs during a buy-bust operation in Bulungan, Parañaque City recently.
Apprehended were Corrections Officer 1 Paul Patrick Toledo, assigned to the Maximum Compound of the New Bilibid Prison (NBP); Reynold Teodoro, 30, security guard; and Romeo Guerrero, 34, truck driver.
Seized from them were 10 kilos of suspected shabu with a street value of P68 million, a pistol with eight live rounds, identification cards, official receipts, two cellphones, two wallets, one genuine P1,000 bill on top of bundles of boodle money used in the buy-bust operation, and two vehicles.
BuCor Chief Gregorio Catapang Jr. immediately ordered the dismissal of Toledo from service following his arrest by the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) last Friday night at Skypark, Bulungan.
“As I said before, we will not condone misfits in our agency as we intensify our efforts to cleanse the bureau of misguided personnel who refuse to heed our call to mend their ways and change for the better,” Catapang said in a statement.
He vowed to flush out and unmask corrections officers involved in illegal activities while hiding behind BuCor uniforms, adding, “ may mangilan ngilan pa rin natitirang nasanay sa maling gawain, nakasanayan na kung baga kaya hirap magbago, pero iisa-isahin natin sila hanggang sila ay maubos.”
