ANGONO, Rizal – Consistent with its advocacy promoting “responsible fur parenthood,” the local government hinted at establishing a place that would exclusively cater the needs of rescued stray animals while trying to find “pawssionate” parents.
In a statement, Mayor Jeri Mae Calderon particularly hinted at the construction of Angono’s first May Puso Animal Rescue and Adoption Center, where stray animals are brought, away from risks like being hit or run over by vehicles – or worse ending up as an appetizer in a drinking session.
“Layunin nito na iligtas ang mga naliligaw at inabandonang pusa at aso na gumagala sa mga lansangan,” Calderon said in a Facebook post. Calderon said rescued animals, which include stray and abandoned dogs and cats are brought to an animal pound where they are treated from ailments and nourished. “We have basically been doing that for the longest time and we intend to maintain the practice except that the local government would want a more conducive place for them.”
She added that the local government welcomes fur parents who would want to adopt pets. The mayor however noted that the adoption process would entail validation to ensure that animals would have responsible adoptive custodians who would take good care of the “new family member.”
She also called on local residents who would like to become fur parents to visit the new animal rescue and adoption center located at the Municipal Forest Park in Barangay Isidro where local government personnel can assist in the adoption process.
