IIMBESTIGAHAN ng Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) ang umano’y illegal na aktibidad ng foreign diplomats sa posibleng paglabag ng China sa phone call recording.
“The Department of Foreign Affairs will look into any reports of illegal and unlawful activities by diplomatic officials, and undertake necessary action in line with existing laws and regulations,” ayon sa DFA said.
Ang aksiyon ay bunsod ng panawagan ni Defense Secretary Gilbert Teodoro Jr. at National Security Adviser Eduardo Año sa DFA na magsagawa ang aksiyon laban sa mga indibidwal mula sa Chinese Embassy sa Manila sa posibleng paglabag sa Anti-Wire Tapping Act at paglabag sa diplomatic protocols.
Naglabas ang Chinese Embassy ng sinasabing dalawang minutong recording ng usapan sa telepono ni Admiral Alberto Carlos, commander of the military’s Western Command, hinggil sa “new model” arrangement sa Ayungin (Second Thomas) Shoal.
Ayon sa Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) walang saysay ang sinasabi ng China sa usapan sa pagitan ni Carlos at Chinese diplomat dahil ito ay may ugnayan sa Chinese Communist Party (CCP).”
“Foreign diplomats accredited to the Philippines are accorded the necessary liberties to conduct their diplomatic duties, with the expectation that they, in turn, will conduct their diplomatic activities with the highest standards of integrity and professionalism, in pursuit of common interests and mutually beneficial outcomes,” ayon sa DFA.
Nanawagan din ang departamento na sumunod sa international laws, kabilang ang United Nations Charter, the Vienna Conventions governing inter-state relations, and the 1982 United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea.
Nauna nang itinanggi ng DFA na may kasunduan ang China at Pilipinas sa Ayungin Shoal.
Nanindigan ang DFA na tanging si Pangulong Ferdinand Marcos Jr. lamang ang awtorisadong makipagkasundo para sa gobyerno at hindi ang kung sino sa usaping West Philippine Sea at South China Sea.
