FOLLOWING a donation of home care kits from Pitmaster Foundation for individuals with mild coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) and undergoing home isolation in the National Capital Region (NCR), Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) announced it will be distributing the kits to the rest of the metropolis after Pasay City.
MMDA general manager Romando Artes thanked Pitmaster Foundation’s executive director Atty. Caroline Cruz for the Covid-19 home care kits donation that followed its PhP50 million cash assistance and PhP50 million worth of rapid antigen kits donation for the NCR’s local government units (LGUs) just last week.
“Metro Manila really needs home care kits for those with mild Covid-19 symptoms but the challenge is the procurement process which takes some time. So we are very thankful for the Pitmaster Foundation for immediately responding when offered assistance,” said Artes during the turnover ceremony held at Pasay City Hall.
In reply, Cruz vowed to continue their support to the MMDA and relentlessly pursue their mission to serve indigent communities in the country as part of their advocacy of public service and charitable work for the needy and marginalized sectors of the country.
“We follow the lead of our LGUs because they know the needs of their constituents. We are here as assistants and helpers of the government,” Cruz enthused while adding the Pitmaster Foundation is also committing to donate ambulances to all of the 17 Metro Manila LGUs.
For her part in witnessing the turnover ceremony, Pasay City mayor Imelda ‘Emy’ Calixto-Rubiano also expressed her gratitude to the foundation’s valuable donation, which she said would benefit her constituents who have mild cases of the coronavirus disease and are isolating themselves at home. Department of Health (DoH) NCR regional director Dr. Gloria Balboa likewise thanked the foundation and Ms. Cruz, saying that “the donations (would) serve as hope and inspiration to people in the midst of the Covid-19 pandemic.
(The) items inside the (home care) kits (would be) useful support to those with mild symptoms and who do not need to go to the hospital for treatment,” Balboa pointed out.
Aside from containing a Covid-19 guide to home quarantine and isolation, Cruz said it also includes a bottle of alcohol, oral antiseptics, face masks, vitamins, medicines, a syrup packet that provides quick relief for itchy throat and a digital thermometer.
