One of the suspects tried to commit suicide after police found the bodies buried at the backyard of the suspect's house.
POLICE said the sister of a balikbayan mother and daughter has has admitted in killing them in Tayabas, Quezon, as three more suspects remain at large.
Tayabas police on Sunday said they have in their custody the sister of the eldest victim, an OFW and a resident of Japan.
The suspect told police she and three more suspects, among them her husband, killed the victims by beating and stabbing them to death.
The woman suspect is currently in a hospital after she attempted to commit suicide after learning the bodies of the victims have been found.
The female victims have been missing for almost a month before their bodies were discovered in the backyard of a family member.
The mother and her 26-year old Japanese daughter had just arrived from Japan shortly before they were reported missing on February 21, 2024. They were guests of the suspects before they went missing.
Initial investigation points to money as a possible motive behind the crime.
It was learned that the victim and her sister had a heated argument over a piece of land they planned to buy. The victim, according to report, had P5 million to buy the land.
The victims’ luggages were first seen floating in a river in the town.
