PHILIPPINE National Police spokesperson Col. Jean Fajardo revealed that at least 131 policemen have been dismissed from service from Jan. 1 to Feb. 14, 2024 as part of the ongoing ‘cleansing’ of the Philippine National Police (PNP).
In a press briefing Thursday evening, Fajardo said 62 of the sacked policemen were involved in Absence Without Leave (AWOL) cases, while the rest were separated from the service for “grave offenses that include robbery, illegal drugs, obstruction of justice and conduct unbecoming a police officer.”
Meanwhile, Fajardo said the PNP will be providing legal assistance to seven policemen who surrendered to the PNP Integrity Monitoring and Enforcement Group after a Rizal court ordered their arrest for two counts of murder.
The cases were in connection with the killing of two suspected New People’s Army rebels in Rodriguez, Rizal in 2010. Fajardo said police claimed that the two died in a “legitimate operation” conducted by the PNP Special Action Force.
Fajardo said the PNP has been providing legal assistance to its personnel facing service-related cases in court.
BI deports 43 Chinese nationals arrested by PAOCC, PNP in Pasay
THE Bureau of Immigration (BI) successfully deported 43 Chinese nationals on Thursday.
The said Chinese nationals were part of the more than 100 foreign nationals previously arrested by the Presidential Anti-Organized Crime (PAOCC) and the Philippine National Police (PNP) Women and Children Protection Center (WCPC), after implementing a search warrant issued by the Makati Regional Trial Court for alleged violation of RA 9208 and RA 10364 or the Anti Trafficking in Persons Act along F.B. Harrison St. in Pasay City.
The PAOCC and the PNP-WCPC discovered that the said foreign nationals were working for an establishment that engages in human trafficking activities.
The BI said that due to this, they were found to have violated the terms and conditions of their visas, and are considered threats to public interest.
The group boarded a Philippine Airlines flight to Shanghai at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) Terminal 1.
BI Commissioner Norman Tansingco said that as a consequence of their deportation, the names of the Chinese nationals have been included in the BI’s blacklist, and they are barred from entering the country in the future.
“We are working closely with other government agencies to rid the country of such undesirable aliens who abuse our hospitality and stay here doing their illegal activities,” said Tansingco.
He further encouraged concerned citizens to report illegal aliens that might be conducting illicit activities in their area. #

“We are grateful that no one touched the money of these people, who were all livestock buyers en route to Barangay Dawis in Bayawan City, passing through Mabinay, for a ‘tabo’ or flea market to buy pigs, cattle, and other live animals,” ani Polinar.

Hontiveros: Quiboloy camp accepted Senate subpoena
THE office of Senator Risa Hontiveros reported on Friday that Kingdom of Jesus Christ (KJC) camp already received the Senate subpoena on Thursday.
However, it was not clear of the embattled televangelist Apollo Quiboloy will appear on next week, March 5, hearing.
Quiboloy was ordered to appear before Hontiveros’ Senate committee on women, children, family relations, and gender equality, which has been investigating his and his KJC’s alleged crimes.
Hontiveros earlier said that if Quiboloy failed to attend the hearing, she would cite him for contempt and have the self-proclaimed ‘Appointed Son of God’ arrested.
Teams to clear dug out activities in Maco landslide
THE teams on clearing operations from the landslide site in Masara, Maco, Davao de Oro will clear its works as no more human remains were dug out since Sunday, said the authorities.
“If ma-maintain natin ‘yung number of heavy equipment natin na magagamit during the operation, hopefully, by Friday o Saturday, matatapos na po ang ating operation. But, that will actually depend on the recommendation pa rin ng ating incident commanders, ng ating Incident Management Team,” Mawab Municipal Information Officer Jiesyl Mae Tan said.
As of 7 p.m. on February 20, 2024, the number of bodies found at the landslide site reached 93. At least 79 have been turned over to their families. Fourteen remained unidentified.
The Incident Management Team clarified that body parts retrieved were among the 98 fatalities announced previously.
Eight individuals are still missing, as of this writing.
“If we counter-check po, we have kasi 14 unidentified bodies and body parts. And if we counter-check it with the eight missing, maybe, just maybe po, baka itong eight missing individuals natin ay andun na po sa unidentified body and body parts po,” Tan added.
The evacuees have taken shelter at schools since the landslide on February 6, 2024.
The Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (MDRRMO) said evacuees may return home to the area declared safe after the 15-day period given by the Department of Education (DepEd) had lapsed.
However, the local government of Maco and Mawab will ask DepEd for an extension particularly for evacuees from Barangays Masara and Mainit as their temporary shelters are still being prepared.
