QUEZON City Police District (QCPD) Director, PBGEN Antonio C Yarra, announced the arrest of a policeman accused of raping a minor in Quezon City.
PLTCOL Alex DJ Alberto, the Station Commander of PS 10, identified the suspect as PCMS Galahad Altarejos, 48, resident of Brgy. Batasan Hills, Quezon City, and currently assigned at Crime Laboratory Office of QCPD.
Altarejos was arrested by QCPD Station 10 operatives in a follow-up operation.
Reports show that the suspect has been known to the 17-year-old victim’s aunt, is a regular customer of the latter in their eatery.
At about 10:00 PM on January 15, 2022, the suspect accompanied the victim and her aunt to their house in Brgy. Kamuning, Quezon City.
Upon arrival thereat, the aunt’s victim proceeded to her room, thereby leaving the suspect and the victim chatting with each other in the living room. Subsequently, the victim asked the suspect to leave as the former was supposed to sleep.
However, the suspect refused, grabbed the victim’s hand, and brought her inside her room. Upon locking the room, the suspect threatened the victim, forcibly pushed her into the bed, kissed her, removed her undergarments, and fulfilled his sexual desires.
Thereafter, Raganas noticed that her niece and the suspect were no longer in the living room so she decided to open the victim’s room where she saw her niece helplessly lying in the bed and half-naked while the suspect tried to hide in the cabinet.
Raganas immediately reported the incident to PS 10. Upon immediate response and arrival of PS 10 personnel, the victim positively identified the suspect who raped her, resulting in the arrest of the suspect.
The suspect will be charged for Rape and violation of R.A. 7610 or Special Protection of Children Against Abuse, Exploitation and Discrimination Act before the Quezon City Prosecutor’s Office.
PBGEN Yarra lauded the immediate response of the PS 10 personnel which resulted in the arrest of the suspect.
“I have continuously issued a stern warning to all my men, I will never tolerate their wrongdoings. We will immediately file the appropriate charges against the erring cop and will relieve him from his current post. We will also make sure that we will secure justice in favor of the victim,” he added.
Meanwhile, PMGEN Vicente D Danao Jr, the Regional Director of NCRPO, expresses his gratitude to QCPD under the leadership of PBGEN Antonio C Yarra for their prompt response which led to the immediate arrest of the suspect. “Walang puwang sa aming organisasyon ang ganitong klaseng pulis. Sisiguraduhin nating pananagutan niya ang kanyang ginawang krimen,” he added.
