PH breaches one million jabs a day

admin November 5, 2021

THE Philippines has breached the one million mark in terms of vaccinated individuals in a day, as the country recorded a total of 1,119,389 individuals vaccinated on November 4, 2021, said Presidential Spokesperson Secretary Harry Roque Jr.

Prior to that, there were two consecutive days where almost one million people were also vaccinated, added the Palace spokesperson. Some 948,521 were vaccinated on November 3, while 932,762 were jabbed on November 2, said Secretary Roque in a press briefing on November 5, 2021.

“Kung patuloy po na ganito na halos one million a day ang nababakunahan, maaabot po natin talaga yung target natin na population protection sa Disyembre,” remarked Sec. Roque.

As of November 4, 2021 data from the National COVID-19 Vaccination Dashboard, more than 62.4 million total vaccine doses have been administered in the Philippines. According to the same data, 37.23 percent or more than 28.7 million individuals are now fully vaccinated nationwide.

In the National Capital Region (NCR), 97.45 percent or more than 9.5 million individuals have received a first dose of a COVID-19 vaccine, while 88.86 percent or more than 8.6 million people are now fully vaccinated in Metro Manila.

Meanwhile, on the lowering of the alert level of Metro Manila to Alert Level 2 wherein minors are now allowed movement subject to reasonable restrictions of local government units, Sec. Roque reminded parents to be vigilant and responsible for the safety of their own children.

“Nandyan po ang mga magulang, hindi naman po talaga estado ang nagpoprotekta on a daily basis. Kinakailangan po yung mga magulang exercise their legal obligation to exercise their parental authority,” said Roque.

Department of Health Undersecretary Maria Rosario Vergeire explained in the same press briefing that the lowering of the alert level in the NCR is based on metrics for case trends such as the two-week growth rate, the average daily attack rate (ADAR), and healthcare utilization.

Usec. Vergeire said that last week, the NCR had a 10.27 ADAR and negative two-week growth rate which is why the region was classified under Alert Level 3.

This week however, Vergeire said the NCR’s ADAR is down to just 5.36, with a negative two-week growth rate and less than 50 percent healthcare utilization, which merited a de-escalation to Alert Level 2, which shall be effective from November 5 to 21, 2021, per IATF Resolution No. 147.

“Ngayon po na tayo po ay nasa Alert Level 2 na sa Metro Manila, ulitin ko lang po ha, ang kinabukasan natin, ang alert level sa mga darating na panahon nakasalalay po yan sa ating mga kamay. Hindi po yan nakasalalay sa gobyerno. Mask, hugas, iwas at bakuna pa rin po ang solusyon,” Roque said.
