AGENTS of the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) recently conducted a successful operation in Manila, resulting in the confiscation of counterfeit Lego products valued at P9 million.
This operation was carried out after NBI-National Capital Region executed nine search warrants at the RSP Toy Store and MTB Consumer Goods, both located in an undisclosed establishment within Manila.
The operation culminated in the seizure of 1,906 boxes containing a variety of counterfeit LEGO products, with an estimated total worth of approximately P9.5 million.
The individuals responsible for these unlawful activities now face charges for Trademark Infringement, Copyright Infringement, and Unfair Competition under Republic Act 8293, commonly known as the Intellectual Property Act.
Additionally, the seized items will be destroyed to prevent their resale.
The NBI is urging the public to refrain from supporting counterfeit products, aiming to curb the demand for imitation goods.
The bureau also pledged to intensify its efforts in carrying out raids on establishments engaged in the sale of counterfeit goods, with the aim of curbing illicit trade activities.
