THE Bureau of Customs – Port of Clark donated approximately 1,722 liters of “unmarked” diesel fuel to the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) to support the affected fisher folks of oil spill incident in Oriental Mindoro.
By virtue of the Deed of Donation and Acceptance signed by Commissioner Bienvenido Rubio and DSWD Secretary Rex Gatchalian, the fuel was turn-over to DSWD on October 18 in the presence of Port of Clark officials and representatives from the Commission on Audit.
The subject unmarked fuel was seized by the Port of Clark in September 2022 and was subsequently forfeited in favor of the government for violating Section 7 of DOF-BOC-BIR Joint Circular 001-2021, prescribing the Implementing Guidelines for Field Testing under the Fuel Marking Program.
Through the provisions of R.A. No. 10863 otherwise known as the Customs Modernization and Tariff Act (CMTA) and with the approval of Department of Finance (DOF) Secretary, the donation intends to assist the DSWD in providing additional support to the affected families and fisher folks in the province of Oriental Mindoro.
The Bureau of Customs remains steadfast in safeguarding public welfare and continues to work hand in hand with other government agencies by ensuring strict implementation of customs rules and regulations.
