CONTROVERSIAL drag artist Pura Luka Vega has been released on bail, authorities confirmed on Saturday.
In an interview, Police Brig. Gen. Andre Dizon, Director of Manila Police District (MPD), said that the courts issued the release order this morning.
“Matapos makapag-piyansa, kaninang umaga ay may inilabas na release order ang korte para kay Pura Luka Vega kaya immediately noong dinala sa MPD Station 3, na-release natin sir,” he said.
Pura Luka Vega was arrested on Wednesday due to a complaint filed by a religious group against their viral Ama Namin performance.
Following this, they filed a motion for bail, including a request to reduce the bail bond, which is pegged at P72,000.
The motion was granted on Friday, but the drag artist remained in police custody until the court opened again for the submission of requirements.
