FORMER broadcaster Jay Sonza has been freed from detention after posting bail in his libel and estafa cases before the Quezon City regional trial court.
The Bureau of Jail Management and Penology said Sonza was released on Tuesday evening, according to reports.
Sonza was arrested in July after Bureau of Immigration personnel intercepted him while he was attempting to leave for Hong Kong.
He was taken into custody based on his pending arrest warrants for estafa and syndicated and large-scale illegal recruitment.
The illegal recruitment cases were dismissed earlier this month after the complainants failed to appear in court, but Sonza was not immediately released because he had other pending cases for estafa and libel.
